You have arrived at the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Policy for Addiction Sports. Snowboard Addiction and Ski Addiction are brands operated by SA Snowboard Addiction Inc. This policy explains how we collect, process, and protect personal data when you interact with our websites, services, or products.

This policy came into effect on May 25, 2018 and is reviewed periodically to ensure it remains accurate and compliant with current regulations and business operations.

  1. This policy applies to all personal data processed by Addiction Sports through Snowboard Addiction and Ski Addiction websites, services, and communications.
  2. Addiction Sports is responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with this policy and applicable data protection regulations.
  3. This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure that it reflects current business practices, technology, and regulatory requirements.

Addiction Sports processes personal data in a lawful, fair, and transparent manner.

Data Minimisation

Addiction Sports ensures that personal data collected is relevant and limited to what is necessary for providing services and improving the customer experience.

The following types of information may be collected and processed.

First Name and Last Name - Used to refer to the customer respectfully by name and to assist with the customer experience (ordering, newsletter etc):

  • Internal Email (Apple Mail) (HubSpot) (Gorgias) (Stripe) (Charge Rabbit) and (Amazon) exclusively for SA staff where we may be assisting a customer.
  • To confirm orders, shipping information and to check the security of a purchase is legitimate. This is through our website (Shopify), (Amazon), our fulfillment company ( ShipBob), our digital subscription company (Stripe), our shipping app (Shippo) and our customer service platform ( Gorgias).
  • Couriers delivering the goods may also have access to this information, specifically to assist in delivery (ShipBob).
  • If you complete a Customer Satisfaction Survey, our online survey provider Survey Monkey has access and holds your details. See their Privacy Policy and GDPR Compliance Policy. 

Email - If the customer has signed up to our newsletter or has reached out to our support for customer service. We collect emails and store them in our Klaviyo account. Check out Klaviyo's GDPR Policy here. 

We never give out your email to anyone and simply have it so you get sweet tutorials and keep up to date because you want to. You can unsubscribe here if you’re over it. 

  • To confirm orders, shipping information and to check the security of a purchase is legitimate, we often correspond with the customer using email. This is through our website (Shopify) (Amazon), our fulfillment company ( ShipBob), our digital subscription companies (Stripe) (Thinkific) and our CRM company (HubSpot).
  • Couriers delivering the goods may also have access to this information, specifically to assist in delivery. 
  • If you complete a Customer Satisfaction Survey, our online survey provider Survey Monkey will store your email address. See their Privacy Policy and GDPR Compliance Policy.

Phone Number - For security verification and to assist with shipping accurately to the customer.

  • To confirm orders are legitimate, fraud detection and shipping information to ensure we deliver you your order. We often correspond with the customer using phone. This is sourced through our website (Shopify) on the customer order and via our fulfillment company ( ShipBob) regarding their specific delivery and (Amazon).
  • Couriers delivering the goods may also have access to this information, specifically to assist in delivery. 

Birth Date - To send a birthday email prior to their birthday, giving them additional discounts. This information is only stored on Mailchimp. For more on Klaviyo's privacy policy, please click here.

Website Usage and Currency Conversion

Our websites may use functional tools such as currency converters to improve the user experience. These tools may process a visitor’s IP address in order to determine geographic location for currency display.

Session cookies may also be used to remember currency preferences while browsing the website.

Delivery Address

Used to fulfill and deliver customer orders.

Addresses may be processed through our e-commerce platform, fulfillment partners, and shipping providers responsible for delivering orders.

Payment Information

Addiction Sports does not store customer credit card information.

Payments are securely processed through encrypted payment providers integrated with our e-commerce platform. Shopify's security policies are found here.

Third Party Services

In order to operate our business and provide services to customers, personal data may be processed by trusted third-party platforms including:

Shopify (ecommerce platform)
ShipBob (order fulfillment and logistics)
Gorgias (customer support platform)
HubSpot (customer relationship management)
Klaviyo (Email marketing platform, used for newsletters and communications).

Thinkific: Digital training or membership platform used to deliver online coaching content

These services process data only as necessary to provide their respective services and operate under their own privacy and security policies.

    Accuracy

    1. Addiction Sports shall take reasonable steps to ensure personal data is accurate.
    2. Where necessary, steps shall be taken to ensure that personal data is kept up to date in accordance with the lawful basis on which it is processed. 

    Archiving / Removal

    1. To ensure that personal data is kept for no longer than necessary, Addiction Sports shall put in place an archiving policy for each area in which personal data is processed and review this process annually.
    2. The archiving policy shall consider what data should/must be retained, for how long, and why.

    An example of this archival is that twice per year, we delete all customer emails who are not engaging with our content (the bottom 10% of our newsletter customer base).

    Security

    1. Addiction Sports shall ensure that personal data is stored securely using modern software that is kept up-to-date.
    2. Access to personal data shall be limited to personnel who need access and appropriate security should be in place to avoid unauthorized sharing of information.
    3. When personal data is deleted, this should be done safely such that the data is irrecoverable.
    4. Appropriate back-up and disaster recovery solutions shall be in place. 

    Data Breach Procedures

    In the event of a data breach that may pose a risk to individuals’ rights and freedoms, Addiction Sports will assess the situation promptly and take appropriate action.

    Where required under applicable data protection laws, the breach will be reported to the relevant supervisory authority and affected individuals may be notified.
