Forward Shoulder Rolls
To get started on the forward rolls, stand at the side of a soft mat or any padded area on the floor.
- Cup your hand and throw your palm up above your head.
- Step the same side leg forwards so that you're shifted opened to one side.
- Looking at the ground a couple feet ahead, squat low and tuck your chin into your chest.
- Let as many parts of your arm as possible touch the ground as you move through the roll. This will help disperse as much energy as possible.
Dispersing the energy through the arm and shoulder.
Backward Shoulder Rolls
- Lay flat on your back with one arm palm down and at a perpendicular angle to you.
- Push down with the hand by your side to help bring your knees over your other shoulder.
- Feeling twisted up means you're just one step away! At this point, simply roll your hand around to get it done.
- Keep pushing until you're able to roll out of this position onto your feet.
Primed and ready for a back roll.
Practice Makes Perfect
Now that you have the basics down, its time to perfect all the different rolls! Get your forward and backward rolls to be as smooth as possible over both shoulders to get you prepped for those split second falls. Once you feel like you're able to roll out smoother than Snoop Dogg, throw your Tramp Skis on and get training!
