Increasing the length of time it takes you to fall will reduce your chance of injury and is where the Advanced Bailout technique comes in. Integrating shoulder rolls when over or under rotating will prevent you from going over your head and allowing you to move through the fall as well as giving you that all important bail steeze factor.

Forward Shoulder Rolls

To get started on the forward rolls, stand at the side of a soft mat or any padded area on the floor.

  1. Cup your hand and throw your palm up above your head.
  2. Step the same side leg forwards so that you're shifted opened to one side.
  3. Looking at the ground a couple feet ahead, squat low and tuck your chin into your chest.
  4. Let as many parts of your arm as possible touch the ground as you move through the roll. This will help disperse as much energy as possible.

    Backward Shoulder Rolls

    1. Lay flat on your back with one arm palm down and at a perpendicular angle to you.
    2. Push down with the hand by your side to help bring your knees over your other shoulder.
    3. Feeling twisted up means you're just one step away! At this point, simply roll your hand around to get it done.
    4. Keep pushing until you're able to roll out of this position onto your feet.
